About the artwork

In the essence of it all, we might be caught up with Life. Some of us pull through and make the best out of situations; However, for some individuals, it becomes an overbearing obstacle that nips at us every day, every second.

The fishing lines are a metaphor for this. These things do not just come once, they come by the bunches. For some, they would not be able to see how things can get better and the process towards the end just escalates.

They would just have to live with the reality of all these problems and never really find solutions. Life and society would then ask them to carry on, like the boosters you see in games. The fibre optics are a metaphor for that, where it signals the audience forward amidst all the mess.

In the end, the water gets contaminated and consumed by the ink. The ink is a metaphor by how everything seems so dark and bleak for someone to have all these problems surrounding them everyday, drip by drip; However, when they try to look at reality it gets a bit too scary where they might try to get away from it all. This is where some people make different choices in their life but it is truly up to them to do so.

Ideation :
There were a few elements that we were interested in, Black Ink, Fibre Optics and some sort of Projection.
We ended up changing the layout completely as compared to our analog version because one installation couldn't bring us through the stages of being depressed.
The analog installation was good with creating an immersive space within 4 walls. However, we did not see how we could bring the audience through a path/process in the previous set up. Therefore, we came up with these three zones.
